George Leigh Mallory

This was the first of several biographies of the famous Everest pioneer and arguably the first to conquer the mountain, whose perfectly preserved body was dramatically recovered in 1999. Most importantly, it is the only biography written by a contemporary, fellow mountaineer and close friend.
