Artur Granstedt describes how ecologically adapted farming, based on local recycling and renewable energy sources, can reduce the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea and even help to reduce climate change.

We are presented with descriptions of the ecosystems that support the health of the biosphere - terrestrial and marine, the climate, and global food production. In addition to that, a historical overview of agricultural practices which can deplete the resources that support our existence is given. The author explains, with examples, how we can restore fertility to the soil, bring depleted land back to bloom and produce food that can nourish the world.

Artur Granstedt holds a Ph.D. in Agronomics is Associate Professor at Södertörn University, and Coordinator of the BERAS project (Baltic Ecological Recycling Agriculture and Society).
