The extensive state exhibition "The Dawn of Gothic Architecture - The Cathedral of Magdeburg and the Late Hohenstaufen Period" for the first time moves beyond merely viewing the period from an art-historical and architectural viewpoint and shows how knowledge, culture, and life of the people changed significantly in front of the politico-historical background of the Late Hohenstaufen period. More than 200 precious objects from museums, libraries, and archives in Europe and the U.S.A. turn the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg into a treasury chest of the 13th century. German text. Dieses Jubilaum ist Anlass, die Epoche der Gotik umfassend neu zu betrachten. Die grosse Landesausstellung -Aufbruch in die Gotik. Der Magdeburger Dom und die spate Stauferzeit- zeigt erstmalig ueber den kunsthistorisch-architekturgeschichtlichen Blickwinkel hinaus, wie sich Wissen, Kultur und Lebenswelt der Menschen vor dem politisch-historischen Hintergrund der spaten Stauferzeit grundlegend veranderten.
