English summary: The theory of the production of space by Henri Lefebvre has in recent years won a prominent place in the social sciences. Its importance lies especially in that it integrates the categories of city and space in a comprehensive space-time theory of social practice. The reception of this theory long remained fragmented and inconsistent, and payed too little attention to the central epistemological premises of Lefebvre. This volume presents a systematic scientific reconstruction of the theory in its historical and epistemological context. In terms of critical appropriation and development, it creates the outlines of a general analytical framework for the interpretation of space-time phenomena and processes. Since its release in 2005, this volume - now in its second printing - has crucially influenced the discussion of Lefebvre's theory in German-speaking regions. German text. German description: Die Theorie der Produktion des Raumes von Henri Lefebvre hat in den letzten Jahren in den Sozialwissenschaften einen herausragenden Stellenwert gewonnen. Ihre Bedeutung liegt insbesondere darin, dass sie die Kategorien der aStadt und des aRaumes in eine uebergreifende raum-zeitliche Theorie gesellschaftlicher Praxis integriert. Die Rezeption dieser Theorie blieb jedoch lange fragmentarisch und inkonsistent, und sie hat die zentralen erkenntnistheoretischen Pramissen Lefebvres zu wenig beruecksichtigt. Das Buch von Christian Schmid, das jetzt in der zweiten, unveranderten Auflage erscheint, prasentierte zum ersten Mal eine systematische wissenschaftstheoretische Rekonstruktion dieser Theorie in ihrem zeitgeschichtlichen und epistemologischen Kontext. Im Sinne einer kritischen Aneignung und Weiterentwicklung entwirft es die Grundlinien eines allgemeinen analytischen Rahmens zur Interpretation raum-zeitlicher Phanomene und Prozesse. Es hat seit seinem Erscheinen im Jahre 2005 die Auseinandersetzung mit Lefebvres Theorie im deutschsprachigen Raum entscheidend beeinflusst.
