Millions of us are descendents of the great influx of northern Europeans between 1860 and 1920 and most know little about why they came and what conditions were like here. This book will serve as a substitute history for many people because the conditions that caused them to come and the conditions they faced here were very similar, particularly for the Swedes and Norwegians who flocked in large numbers to the American Midwest between 1860 and 1920.
