His publications cover all aspects of young people's educational drama and this selection of his key writings provides an insight into all major areas of his theory and practice. These include: modes of involvement in drama; drama as an art form; the role of emotion; the role of the teacher; planning and assessment; structuring drama lessons; drama's place in the curriculum; the history of drama over the past century and its significance in children's; and, education today. Bolton's work is wholly relevant to today's drama teachers, student teachers, lecturers and everyone seriously interested in the education of young people, especially now there are signs that teachers are again being urged to be creative.
