The biblical text used in this edition is the "RSVCE", first published in 1966. The distinguishing feature of the "Navarre Bible" is its commentary, made by a team at the University of Navarre. It identifies the main message of the Bible, using quotations from church documents and texts of the Fathers and other spiritual writers. Many of the sources used in this volume are new to the "Navarre Bible". The present volume does not replace the earlier twelve "New Testament" volumes. It's commentary overlaps with theirs to a degree, but it is revised and it often draws on sources that are more doctrinal and concise; it is also less extensive, especially in books other than the Gospels.
