Lessons start with the basics - how to hold the bass, how to tune it up and start playing - and take the student to a playing level with sufficient skills to join a band. Each lesson is written in the standard TAB format with easy-to-read rhythm notations, and step-by-step pictures of the correct finger positions. The book also includes a library of scales, giving a wider range of bass notes to play for any given chord. About the author Phil Capone studied guitar at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music in London. He teaches at the Guitar Institute in Wapping and the King Alfred School in Hampstead, and is a regular contributor to Total Guitar magazine. Phil frequently performs on the London jazz circuit and enjoys a popular residency with his own quintet. He is the author of Apple's best-selling 501 Guitar Chords and Learn to Play the Guitar.
