British special forces lead the world. The Green Berets and Delta Force in the US and the special forces in other countries are based on the UK's SAS and SBS. In Iraq, Afghanistan and the War on Terror, the special forces are in the front line. They are even called on by the Americans to help out when particularly dangerous or difficult jobs have to be done. The enemy who confront them admire their professionalism and fear meeting them face to face. Thre can only be one winner in such as encounter. Nigel Cawthorne looks into the activities of the British special forces since the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
