This book is the result of the author working in film for nearly 50 years with her husband, Philip Krysl. Together they have amassed an amazing collection of movie memorabilia from their careers while working on 50 major motion pictures. There are close to 500 photographs of these artifacts, from wardrobe sketches to call sheets, and some rather encyclopedic items such as images of crew badges and Pettibone cranes. After mentoring over 100 cast and crew-members into careers from Oregon to Hollywood, Katherine started mentoring Film Students of all ages with virtual hands-on experience on sets. She started them on the bottom as gofers, teaching them set etiquette, then took them all the way from screenplay to set design, sound, camera composition, auditioning, editing, soundtrack composition, licensing, copyright, marketing, premieres, screenings, film festivals and world-wide distribution. This book, however, was to not only help her and others to mentor filmmakers, but to answer the most unanswered question of all from readers from all walks of life: "'How did you get into the movie business'" And in anticipation of readers wanting to know how to stay in it, AND how to succeed in it, she delved into the art of filmmaking, which she herself learned on some of the most celebrated and financially successful films of all time as a location scout, casting director, actress, set designer and stunt woman.
