The Bodhisattva Guanyin is on a pilgrimage from China to India to retrieve an ancient Buddhist text, and has enlisted Sun Wukong to protect him on his journey in exchange for his freedom. Guanyin's safety on the journey will be under constant threat from bandits, demons, and other supernatural beings. The Monkey God will be difficult to control - he was imprisoned for rebelling against gods and emperors. How will Guanyin be able to make the Monkey God deliver his side of their agreement? And will the two be able to complete their journey to the West?
