Rumi, as he is most commonly known in the West, or Mawlana in the East, is one of the few people who have exerted a great influence over both space and time: in fact his work is more illuminating now as he becomes better known by modern society. People have increasingly been amazed that his presence seems so alive eight centuries after his death.
