The Many Lives of Ajax is an expository book redefining the role and presence of the archetypal Greek warrior, Ajax, in western history and culture. Because of shallow or bogus representations of Ajax in Hollywood films, and the exploitation of his classical entitlement ""Ajax"" as a household cleaning products, Ajax is familiar in cinema lore and popular culture as either a peripheral or non-essential character in the classics, or as a Madison Avenue jingle.
