Grizzlies stitch riverbanks with their immense tracks; salmon flash in the streams; caribou come and go with the seasons along ancient migration routes; and 40-ton humpback whales leap from the blue waters of the Inside Passage. But it is also a land of history, with stories written in the boot prints of would-be miners struggling along the Chilkoot Trail during the Klondike gold rush, in the forgotten paths of nomadic hunters crossing the Bering land bridge to people a new and wild land, and in the fragrant wood chips of Tlingit artists carving totem poles along the coast. It is a land older than human memory and as new as the view around the next river bend. "Treasures of Alaska" is a personal journey into an untamed land brought to life through the experiences of the wildlife and the people who make this special destination home.
