Dan Jurgens, one of the main forces behind the top-selling "Death of Superman" saga takes over as writer and artist on Justice League of America with these 1990s tales that saw the team reach a turning point. Superman, realizing that the team has been unduly influenced by Maxwell Lord, decides to rejoin the JLA. After a clash with the Weapons Master, the Man of Steel convinces the team to aid Maxima, his former foe, in freeing her home world from the clutches of a tyrant, against Lord's wishes. Then, the team must rescue the Elongated Man and his wife, Sue Dibny, from the clutches of the JLA's old foes, the Royal Flush Gang.
