Bloody Satisfied, an anthology of 25 top-notch South African crime-thriller short-stories, is the first of the short sharp stories award annual anthologies, which will be supported by the National Art Festival. The inaugural anthology, introduced with a foreword by Deon Meyer, is a collection of thrilling twist-in-the-tale stories that make good on the 'Bloody Satisfied' promise: slick and sexy stories that brim with danger and elements of the sinister; sophisticated stories that focus on the subtler crimes of everyday life; smart stories that invert expectations and linger in the mind. Contributors include published crime-thriller writers Roger Smith, Peter Church and Greg Lazarus, a number of established journalists and writers, such as Dawn Garisch, TO Molefe and Nechama Brodie, and a selection of new voices, one or two of whom are hopefully the next Deon Meyers in the making. As such, Bloody Satisfied will be a platform for both established and emerging South African authors. Bloody Satisfied will be launched at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in June, with prize money for the best stories totalling R35 000.
