The word "Mandala" is an ancient Sanskrit word that can be translated as "Circle/Community/Connection." Traditionally they have been used as meditative tools in various faiths as well as in modern psychotherapy. They symbolise the entire universe on a macrocosmic and microcosmic level. The ones in this book have been inspired by the common forms and geometry in the spirals, cycles and symmetry of galaxies, planets, life, DNA, and sub-atomic particles. Each work is specifically designed to draw you in. There is generally one point of focus in each one that seems to make people involuntarily move their eyes closer to it. There is information encoded in the work as a whole. Archetypes have also been appropriated from a variety of cultures with rich visual traditions. People bring their own emotions and life experience and match those patterns and associations to what they see. By virtue of symbolism the imagination of others can be stimulated to evolve their own wisdom.
