Here's the very first text to address this evolving new area of OT practice! It teaches students about health promotion and prevention theory and practice from a wellness rather than an illness perspective. Using 'cutting edge' examples, the authors explore how to incorporate this new paradigm into clinical practice and how to develop wellness interventions across the lifespan. This title meets the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education's (ACOTE) standards requiring educational programs to transition to Master's degree level. It includes the use of recently adopted World Health Organization (WHO) terminology and newly revised WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). It features extensive pedagogy, including learning objectives, key terms, case studies, reflective discussion questions, appendices with sample assessment and intervention forms, list of relevant websites, and a bibliography. It uses topic areas selected from the 10 leading health indicators described in Healthy People 2020, including occupation, client centered approaches, transformation, and diffusion of innovations.
