The scion of a musical family, French organist and composer Marcel Dupre (1886-1971) began his career early, with a professional appointment as a church organist at the age of 12. His compositions are characterized by a highly individual style, as this distinctive compilation attests. Assembled by noted organ scholar and performer Rollin Smith, its contents include "Three Preludes and Fugues, " Op. 7; "Scherzo, "Op. 16; and "Les vepres du Commun des Fetes de la Sainte Vierge, " Op. 18.
