Each chapter is a single detailed case vignette in which aspects of race, gender, sexual orientation, heritage, ethnicity, class - elements of the sociopolitical matrix of culture - are brought to the fore in the transference-countertransference dimension, demonstrating how they affect the analytic encounter.
