Pre-school education is expanding rapidly throughout Africa, and "Stepping Stones" has been written to meet the growing need both for early learning books for children, and for supportive resource material for teachers. This book is the first of two "Writing and Number Books". The series teaches pre-reading, pre-writing and early number skills, as well as such important concepts as colour, size and shape. The "Writing and Number Books" provide: matching, colouring and joining activities to reinforce new vocabulary and language; activities to develop motor skills and prepare children for early handwriting practice; alphabet activities to help children to recognize letters and their first written words; and exercises to develop early number awareness. There are "Reading Books" and a "Teacher's Kit" within the series as well.
