After serving with the Tenth Cavalry, Seamus Donegan joins a party of buffalo hunters in the ancient hunting grounds of the Kiowa and Comanche. Their presence ignites a storm of fury among the natives, and Donegan, with twenty-seven men and one woman, is soon under siege - holding off over seven hundred braves for five days in the fight at Adobe Walls. From then on, the U.S. Army will not rest until the tribes of the Staked Plain return to their reservations.
