Industrial espionage has been on the rise since the end of the Cold War. Today, more than ever before corporations and nations are being targeted through illegal methods that strive to acquire new technologies, information and innovations in a wide variety of disciplines. What is the current picture of industrial espionage and how can corporate security counter it? What are the main trends of industrial espionage in the post-Cold War world? How are globalization and new technologies affecting industrial espionage and corporate security? This research report addresses these questions by studying the 2002 Ericsson espionage case. The Ericsson espionage case is one of the most significant cases of industrial espionage in Scandinavia. The case combines a lot of the elements inherent in current industrial intelligence and the efforts of corporate security as well as the national agencies responsible for preventing such activities. It also reflects the trends and practices of current industrial espionage.
