Information Age explores the transformations that have taken place in human information and communication in the last 200 years. Published to coincide with a new permanent Science Museum gallery opening in September 2014, it examines the development of information and communications networks from the nineteenth century to the present day. The book tells a human story of success and failure, brave new ideas and ambitious schemes, and our universal need to connect. It includes excerpts from unique interviews with the BBC team who created the world's first global satellite broadcast in 1967, soldiers who used GPS during the first Gulf war in 1991, and business people from Cameroon whose lives have been transformed by the economic possibilities of mobile telephony since 1997.
