Entries on each of the works provide intimate glimpses into the creativity of some of the greatest artists of the times such as Durer (Melencolia I 1514); Rembrandt (Three trees 1643); Watteau (Study of three male figures c1713-14); Fragonard (Rinaldo in the gardens of Armida c1761-64) and Gericault (The boxers 1818).
